Lalamo is built to help you learn languages. It shows no ads and does not track you.
Your progress, words, profiles and quiz results are stored on your device and in your own iCloud account (Apple's private CloudKit database). We cannot access this data.
When you use features like the conversation partner or "What are you doing today?", the text you enter is sent through our server to OpenAI to generate a response. We do not store these texts. OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models. The app asks for your permission the first time you use these features; you can withdraw it in Settings › Privacy.
For natural voice, audio recordings of course sentences are stored on our server and shared by all users; they contain no information about you.
To enforce usage limits we use an anonymous install ID, Apple DeviceCheck verification and daily counters derived from your IP address. None of these identify you personally, and they are deleted within 30 days.
If the app crashes or freezes, a technical report is sent to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) so we can fix the problem: device model, iOS version, app version, a random installation number and the lines of code where the error happened. Reports are stored in the European Union and deleted within 90 days. They do not contain your name, the texts you write or your learning data.
To understand which features are used, we keep anonymous counters on our own server, for example "how many lessons were completed today". The totals are split by the App Store country you downloaded the app from (for example Türkiye); that is your Apple account's country, not your location. These are totals only: they contain no install ID and nothing else that could be connected to you. The daily counter derived from your IP address, described above, is also used here to prevent abuse.
You can turn both off in Settings › Privacy.
For AI features, the text you enter is sent to OpenAI in the United States, and only if you allow it in the app. Our server runs on Cloudflare (United States) infrastructure; crash reports are stored on Sentry's servers in the European Union (Germany).
Lalamo Plus purchases are processed by Apple. To confirm that your subscription is active we only ask Apple about the transaction number; we never see your payment details.
In kid profiles, AI features are turned off and the purchase screen is behind a parental gate. Kid profiles send no crash reports and no usage statistics.
Lalamo is developed by Bekir A Kopuz, who is the data controller. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) you have the right to ask what data is processed about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. Write to the address below; we reply within 30 days.
Because there are no accounts, we hold no record that identifies you. You can delete your learning data by deleting the app and, on your iPhone, under Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage › Lalamo. You can also reset a language's progress in Settings › Advanced.
